NBA: Changes In Charlotte?

The GOAT Debate in the NBA is a conversation for generations. The Golden Era In modern Basketball featured Hall Of Famers Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Julius Erving and many others. However, the name that supersedes all of those legends belongs to Michael Jordan. 6 Rings, multiple MVPs, multiple scoring titles & multiple Defensive Of The Year awards...the list of accolades is undeniable. However, the difference between MJ the Player & MJ the Owner Of The Charlotte Hornets is hard to ignore. Jordan, Who has been involved with the Hornets since 2006, has seen limited success. The Hornets (Formerly known as Bobcats) only made the playoffs three times and losing in the first round every postseason appearance. After eight seasons with Kemba Walker, Jordan didn’t offer Walker a Supermax contract this offseason, which led to Walker taking less money to sign with the Boston Celtics. As of the last 24 hrs, it appears MJ‘s summer shake up continues. Michael Jordan has decided to sell a part of the Charlotte Hornets to a couple of established businessmen. According to Jack Maloney Of CBSSports.com, Gabe Plotkin and Daniel Sundheim will become part of the ownership group, pending NBA approval. In my opinion, this is Damage Control by MJ. The team lost its sole franchise player and desperately needs a change in the front office to attempt to generate the “Buzz” in “Buzz City”. Superstar Free Agents who grew up idolizing MJ refuse to come play for MJ in Charlotte. Until they develop a winning culture that stigma most likely will not change any time soon.
