NBA: Clippers vs Lakers “Battle 4 LA”

No one expected the 2019 Free Agency to set the NBA world on fire. Kevin Durant & Kyrie Irving dropped the news of signing with the Brooklyn Nets hours before the official start of Free Agency, Mike Conley & Bojan Bogdonavic found their way to Utah to help Donavan Mitchell make a strong playoff run, Jimmy Butler decided to leave a championship contender in Philly to become a solo act in Miami, but the real winners of Free Agency play in LA. Free Agent Demarcus Cousins & Danny Green landed with the Lakers joining LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kyle Kuzma & JaVale McGee. Kawhi Leonard who just won the Toronto Raptors their 1st Championship in Franchise History decided to play in LeBron’s backyard and sign with the Clippers and also made sure to bring Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder. This move was unexpected since PG-13 had just signed an extension last offseason to stay with Russell Westbrook. However, according to many NBA analysts, the only way the Los Angeles Clippers could secure the Kawhi Leonard deal was if they could convince OKC GM Sam Presti to agree To trade George for two developing stars and multiple draft picks. In my opinion, this current Clippers team which includes Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Ivica Zubac & Montrezl Harrell just became championship contenders. However, after the Los Angeles Lakers failed to make the 2019 NBA Playoffs, LeBron James will return this season with a vengeance and Anthony Davis also has a lot to prove since he (like Paul George) demanded a trade with two years left on his contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. I believe that only will the LA vs LA Games sell out the Staples Center but they will also be early indicators of who we will most likely see in the 2020 NBA Finals. May the best dynamic duo win!
