NBA: Pelicans “Anthony Davis: N.O. 2 L.A.?”

The NBA Fans around the League woke up to Major notifications on all platforms early Monday Morning: According to Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, Pelicans Superstar Anthony Davis will not sign an extension with the team and has officially requested a trade. This announcement comes just a month after Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry stated that the Pelicans “Will not trade Davis, under any circumstance.” Lakers Superstar Lebron James also made statements earlier this season that he would love to play with Davis on the Los Angeles Lakers. Now in my opinion, this announcement has multiple layers to it. By dropping this bomb on the media airwaves on Monday MorNing, this gives the Los Angeles Lakers President Of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson 10 days to make his best offer to the Pelicans for Anthony Davis before any other team makes an offer worth the Pelicans even considering. The next team with the best assets would be the Boston Celtic. However, due to the Boston Celtics signing Kyrie Irving as a 1 Year rental, the team can’t sign Davis or make trade offers until the 2019 Free Agency. Other teams such as the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets Have cap space available but limited assets worth a blockbuster trade for the Pelicans Franchise Player. Let’s not forget that Lebron James, Lakers Shooting Guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope & Anthony Davis are all Currently signed to Rich Paul & Klutch Sports Group which means that this move was most likeMay already discussed behind the scenes. Magic Johnson landed King James In LA...now he has to give the King a fully loaded army to go to war with the Golden State Warriors. I can see the Lakers giving up Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, KCP & Zubac just to build around Lebron & AD through Free Agency and The 2019 NBA Draft. As much as I love the Lakers young core...If I was Magic Johnson and I knew that trading my assets in 10 days gets the Lakers back to Showtime 2.0, I’d pull the trigger and make it happen.
