WNBA: Playoff Fever?

The Indiana Fever (9-19, 9th in The League) have a slim chance to make the 2019 WNBA Playoffs. While this statement marks a sign of improvement from the last two seasons, it doesn’t mean that it will happen. With less than 8 games remaining in the regular season, the Fever have an uphill battle in their scheduled matchups. The Los Angeles Sparks, Seattle Storm, Las Vegas Aces & Connecticut Sun are not only Playoff Contenders, but they’re also teams with elite rosters. This time last year, the Indiana Fever was already out of playoff contention, so this should be considered progress. However, without key players Shenise Johnson (knee surgery) & Victoria Vivians (torn ACL), The Indiana Fever appear to be at a fork in the road. They can possibly win enough games in the next two weeks to make the 8th seed in the 2019 WNBA Playoffs, only to get swept in the 1st Round by the #1 seed Washington Mystics. The other option? Lose the next three games (Storm, Aces & Sparks), fall out of playoff contention and continue to rebuild via the 2020 WNBA Draft. Honestly, as much as I want to see the Fever return to the playoff picture, I’m expecting them to continue the rebuilding process.
